I'm passionate about helping others learn and grow, which is why I chose to become a teacher. Within that role, I strive to make learning current, enjoyable and easy to apply to real life situations. My lectures are often collaborative, engaging and as far as humanly possible, real-world based. To find out what some of my students think about my teaching, see the 'Student Feedback' tab.

As a higher education educator, I view myself as a facilitator rather than a traditional teacher. I aim to encourage engagement, critical and 'out-of-the-box' thinking; for my students to understand that while business has gone almost completely digital, it is still about selling and that sometimes, the product is yourself. In the fast evolving digital world, to succeed, one must strive to be ahead of the curve.

Dedicated to cultivating students who seamlessly integrate into professional roles, my primary objective is to equip them with essential skills that will ensure that they require minimal training upon entering the workforce. To stay current with industry demands, advancement, and in fostering a dynamic learning environment, I frequently host guest speakers to share firsthand insights into the real-world application of their knowledge.

I regularly monitor job listings that are relevant to my course topics, which I share with the students. This not only showcases how the curriculum aligns with industry demands; it also provides them with up-to-date information on career opportunities. While I do emphasize on practical skills, I also recognize the importance of imparting strong theoretical foundations. I am always consciously aware that some students may be interested in further studies at research institutions and indeed some may even consider a career in academia. Striking a balance between theory and practical application, I ensure that my students are well-rounded and prepared for diverse career pathways.

EXPERTISE

My SAP Team with their new business venture in IPCA Portugal

The brief was for each group to develop and market a mobile app that could

1. Calculate the carbon footprint of the user

2. Collect and personalise feedback about the SAP

3. Sell / Market the app

My group chose the name TravelWare? for their app. The idea behind the name being that the user would be made 'aware' of their carbon footprint, while the distributor would be made 'aware' of their clients' feedback.

They performed brilliantly with very little guidance from me. SAPs are student run and facilitators can only assist when needed and offer advice from time to time.
